Many times when brides come in they are very concerned with matching their dress to their venue. While we certainly understand this desire in terms of comfortability and practicality (a huge layered ball-gown might be a bit hot on a tropical beach) we always encourage brides to throw out their "rule book" and go with what they love. If you want to wear a modern gown in a forestry cottage-style wedding- go for it! Own it. Rock it.
Kerry is the perfect example of how a wedding dress whether completely complimentary or contradictory in style, can work with your venue. Kerry was married at the historic Distillery District in downtown Toronto. At first glance, the distillery district has a very industrial and raw feel to it. However, the intricate detail of the buildings, the brick-work, and the cobblestone roads all lend themselves to an almost vinatge feel. The many art-galleries in the distillery definitely give it a cool, hip, and modern vibe as well. So many different styles all rolled into one!
While delicate lace can definitely pull that "vintage-y" feel, it doesn't always scream modern or industrial and yet, Kerry and her Amy Kuschel "Rosemary" gown, seemed to fit right in and yet beautifully stand out (partly due to the amazing crystal belt she added to the dress!). We asked Kerry what drew her to "Rosemary" she gushed...
"I fell in love with my Amy Kuschel dress the moment I tried it on. I loved the way the dressed hugged my body and the beautiful detail of the lace. It was everything I was looking for, it was absolutely perfect."
Kerry wed J.P on May 9, 2014 and when asked to describe her wedding day in a few sentences she said,
"Perfect is how I would describe the day. I could not have imagined such an amazing day. The distillery district was the perfect setting from the intimate candle lit ceremony at Arta Gallery to the Rustic Elegance of Archeo. It truly was the best day of our lives."
From the whole team at MRS. we want to say a huge congratulations to the newlyweds!
